Sixth Form

The Sixth Form is made up of the last two years before university, (Years 12 and 13 in the Cambridge system) and equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato.

In Sixth Form we offer a highly personalised programme that allows students to tailor their studies by choosing subjects they are really interested in. In Year 12 students choose a few subjects that they study in great depth. By the end of Year 13, students have completed coursework and sit Cambridge International A-Level examinations in each of their chosen subjects.

By focussing on a few subjects in great depth, the Cambridge A Level programme allows our students to develop skills and understanding as learners that they can apply at university level and beyond. We believe that our Scandinavian-based philosophy and approach to learning combines well with the Cambridge programme, which aims to develop learners who are:

  • Confident in working with information and ideas – their own and those of others.
  • Responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others.
  • Reflective as learners, developing their ability to learn innovative and equipped for new and future challenges.
  • Engaged intellectually and socially ready to make a difference.

During their Sixth Form years all students also continue to study English and prepare for a recognised qualification suitable to their needs and abilities, such as IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or Cambridge Advanced.

Success in the A Level examinations gives access to university education worldwide. At the same time, Spanish students also have direct access to universities in Spain. With their British A Level qualifications, students obtain their Calificación de Acceso a la Universidad (CAU) automatically. Native and non native students alike may also sit “pruebas especificas” to boot their average and increase chances of entering the university program of their choice.

Access to Sixth Form is open to students with a high level of English who have passed IGCSE in required subjects with good grades, or who transfer from another school system with similar results.
