The Scandinavian School of Madrid is looking for an experienced Primary School Teacher
to teach year 1 pupils at a local school in Madrid.
The candidate must have Qualified Teacher Status in Sweden, or preferably an equivalent UK/overseas qualification with Swedish teaching experience.
You will be committed to raising standards and have good organisational and interpersonal skills.
Candidate Specification:
• A highly motivated and excellent classroom practitioner in Year 1 to 6
• Enthusiasm, energy and commitment to children of all abilities
• Ability to exercise professional leadership to
ensure high quality teaching
Skills, Knowledge and Aptitude:
• At least 3 years experience of teaching in Year 1 to 6
• Thorough understanding of the Swedish Curriculum
• Ability to work within a close-knit, supportive team
• Native English or equivalent

Job description
Primary school teachers structure work and create lesson plans in accordance with curriculum objectives.
They facilitate learning by establishing a positive relationship with pupils and by their
organisation of learning resources and the classroom learning environment.
Primary school teachers develop and foster the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable
the optimum development of children, according to age, ability and aptitude.
Typical activities are broadly the same for all primary school teachers and include:
• teaching all areas of the primary curriculum
• taking responsibility for the
individual progress of all primary age pupils in their
classroom. • organising the classroom and learning resources to create a positive learning environment • planning, preparing and presenting lessons that cater
to the needs of the various ability ranges
within their class. • motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentations.
• preparing and marking
asseignments to facilitate positive pupil development.
• meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils' development.
• providing feedback to parents on a pupil's progress at parents' evenings and other meetings
• coordinating activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, and supporting
colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area.
• working with others to plan and coordinate. • staying up to date with changes and developments in the structure
of the curriculum. • taking part in school events and activities which may
occur on weekends or in the evening. • liaising with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly in smaller schools. • working with parents and school
administration to maximise their involvement in the school and
the development of resources for the school.
