Pre-school class/Primary/Secondary

The pre-school class as well as the Primary and Secondary School, follow the Swedish national curriculum for the compulsory school system, the pre-school class and the leisure-time centre Lpo 94.

The Primary School admits children from the age of six. In order to make the transition from pre-school to primary school smoother, the five-year olds participate in school-preparation activities in close connection with the youngest students. This method is helping the pre-school class teacher and the lower primary school teacher create a good environment for all children/students.

We have an age-integrated and individual adapted method of teaching. The individual work of one student is kept at its own pace, independent of other class mates. The ordinary subjects which concern the whole class, we very rarely go through together.

When students have arrived at a new stage of a subject, we concentrate on bringing them in to the context as a smaller group. Belonging to a team is important. For this reason we work together in subjects such as Art and Debate.

The teaching is adapted to the individual with regards to each students level of development and ability. The students are encouraged to take personal responsibility of their studies by planning their weekly program themselves. As well as working in the classroom, we also visit museums and theatres, explore nature and run educational visits. The ability to co-operate, present ideas, listen to others and to show respect is important.

In Primary year 5, national tests in Swedish, Mathematics and English take place. Running up to Secondary year 1, the students have the option to study French.
