The pre-school operates according to the Swedish curriculum for the pre-school, Lpfö 98. We admit children from two to five years of age.
We have two pre-school sections; one Scandinavian and one International. They share premises and co-operate in different activities, such as outdoor play, music, drama and Spanish.
In the Scandinavian section, the staff speak Swedish to the children.
In the international section, the language approach is characterized by active bilingualism in English and Spanish. The staff have either English or Spanish as mother tongue. In each child group there are two pedagogues, one with each mother tongue.
From 3 years of age, all children in both sections have Spanish lessons according to the Spanish curriculum for the pre-school.
The pre-school lays the foundation for lifelong learning and we provide the children with a pedagogical approach, where care, nurturing and learning together form a coherent whole. We strive to ensure that our activities are carried out so that they stimulate and challenge each individual child's development and learning. We focus on the children's interest in learning and mastering new experiences, knowledge and skills. We make conscious use of play to stimulate each child's imagination, insight, communication and the ability to think symbolically as well as the ability to co-operate and solve problems.
During the day, the children have time and space for their own plans, fantasy and creativity, both indoors and outdoors. Our green play-area has climbing trees, a sand-pit, swings and plenty of space to burn off steam. We go out every day, no matter what the weather!
During the school year we carry out various theme works. We do creative work such as drama, art, shape and colour, on each child's level. Twice a week the children have music lessons with the schools music teacher. Gross motor activities such as sports and games are also standing elements. Circle-time, singing and storytelling, fruit breaks and lunch are part of the daily routine.
The pre-school opens at 9am and finishes at 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. There is a possibility to extended child care between 08.30 and 9am and 3.30 to 5.00pm. The pre-school is closed during the summer holidays, as well as during other school holidays.
